The FreediveSafe Justin Lee Scholarship Program was created to invest in the next generation of safe, responsible, and respectful divers.
Each scholarship recipient completed the FII Junior Freediver Certification Course under the instruction of Dylan Currier, Cory Fults, Mike Jutt, and Justin Lee—learning not only the skills to freedive safely, but also the importance of teamwork, preparation, and looking after one another in the water.
Years later, we’re seeing the impact of that investment. These scholarship divers have grown into outstanding members of Hawaiʻi’s spearfishing community, consistently putting safety first while demonstrating a genuine commitment to sustainability and the future of our sport.
Watching these young divers mature into leaders is exactly why this program was created. They’re proving that great spearfishers aren’t measured only by what they bring home—they’re measured by how they protect their dive partners, respect the ocean, and inspire the next generation to do the same.
