FreediveSafe! Founder Niki Roderick Shares Freediving Safety with Ke Kula ʻo Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu Students

FreediveSafe! Hawaii’s founder, Niki Roderick, recently had the privilege of teaching freediving safety at Ke Kula ʻo Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu, engaging with a remarkable group of students in their Ocean Program.

It was an inspiring experience to meet such dedicated young ocean enthusiasts and share essential safety knowledge with them. From proper buddy systems to blackout recovery drills, Niki emphasized the importance of preparation, awareness, and teamwork in every dive. The students eagerly participated, showing curiosity, commitment, and a genuine respect for the ocean.

Teaching at Ke Kula ʻo Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu reinforced why FreediveSafe! Hawaii’s mission is so important: fostering a culture of safe, responsible spearfishing and freediving in our future ocean leaders helps protect lives while cultivating lifelong ocean stewardship.

Niki left the classroom not only impressed by the students’ dedication but also grateful for the opportunity to inspire the next generation of safe, confident, and knowledgeable divers.

Ke Kula ʻo Nāwahīokalaniʻōpuʻu is a Hawaiian language immersion school dedicated to preserving and promoting Hawaiian culture, language, and traditions through education.
